Effect of water stress on the alkaloid content of Nerium indicum L.

Abstract
Nerium is an important shrub used in traditional as well as herbal medicines. In this study an attempt is to made to study water stress and its effects on the alkaloid content in Nerium indicum L. The plants with different water stress conditions were used for the estimation. The alkaloid content was found to increase up to maximum 13.9% in water stressed plants as compared to the control.
