The leaves and unripe fruits of Coccinia grandis are extensively used by the people in the Indian Sub-continent as vegetable. Its leaves, roots, stem and fruits do exhibit antidiabetic potential. The antidiabetic potential of Coccinia grandis is mainly because of its insulin mimetic, anti-hyperglycemic, β-cell restoration, antioxidant and antihyperlipidemic activity.
