Diversity and distribution of araceae in Odisha: A report

Abstract
The diversity of Araceous species in Odisha
has remained largely undocumented, with no comprehensive checklist available
until now. In this study, we conducted an in-depth review of existing
literature alongside targeted fieldwork to enhance the understanding of
Araceous flora of Odisha. As a result, we present the first detailed checklist
of Aroids in the state, encompassing 141 species. Our field investigations led
to the discovery of six species previously unrecorded in Odisha. While this
list does not represent a complete inventory of all Araceae found in the state,
it stands as the most thorough compilation to date. Continued exploration and
sampling are expected to reveal additional species and expand the known
biodiversity of aroid species in the State.
