Phytosociological and floristic investigations provide essential
baseline information for biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and
sustainable landscape management. The present study focuses on Dive Ghat, a
geographically significant region situated along National Highway 965
(Pune–Pandharpur Highway), serving as the northern gateway of Purandar Tehsil,
Pune District, Maharashtra, and forming part of the corridor associated with
the proposed international airport at Purandar. The area is also traversed
annually by the renowned Alandi–Pandharpur Wari pilgrimage, a 240 km spiritual
procession attracting millions of devotees (Warkaris), thereby creating unique
interactions between cultural practices and environmental conservation.
