Interspecific grafting success in Hopea erosa: A critically endangered tree of the Western Ghats

Abstract
Hopea erosa (Bedd.) Slooten (Dipterocarpaceae), a critically endangered tree endemic to the southern Western Ghats of India, was successfully propagated through interspecific grafting onto Hopea indica and H. ponga rootstocks. The high graft success achieved demonstrates the effectiveness of this technique for clonal propagation and its value in the ex situ conservation, population recovery, and ecological restoration of the species.
