Sacred
Groves are the house of indigenous ancestor plants, which are often found
abundant in the area. Many local communities rely on these groves as a source
of traditional knowledge, utilizing this knowledge for treating a variety of
ailments. The study examines the cultural, religious, and ecological
significance of sacred groves in Gujarat's Mangrol, Mandvi, and Umarpada
talukas, emphasizing their crucial role in conserving forests and preserving
plant biodiversity. Documenting 382 plant species and 50 ethno-medicinal
plants, the research underscores the need for urgent conservation efforts and
community involvement. The study highlights the importance of interdisciplinary
collaboration and education initiatives for the sustainable management and
preservation of these culturally and ecologically significant sacred groves.
